A smattering of recent things.

Saturday, I got together with yolen, thudthwacker, eafm, renegade_geek, kosciost, the_malum, and mitch37, all at Thudthwacker & eafm's home. We played some Kill Doctor Lucky and Munchkin, as well as socialized, and ate far too much very tasty guacamole.

Last Friday, yolen had me finally watch The Godfather, which I had somehow never seen. I was surprised by how much of the movie I already knew from the sheer number of pop culture references that have been made to it in other things I've seen or read. Sort of like that old saw about Shakespeare: "I went to see a Shakespeare play last week. I don't know what the big deal is about that guy, he didn't seem like that great a writer to me. All he did is string together a bunch of familiar quotations."

That said, I enjoyed the movie, and have added The Godfather Part 2 to my NetFlix queue.

I am re-reading Glen Cook's Annals of the Black Company, after getting it back from thudthwacker. It's the first three books of the series, and IMO, the place to stop. I do not recommend the later written books, but the first three hang together as one good story.

Got a new printer. Now I just need to get it home. It will be nice to be able to print at home again. It's a Dell re-branded laser printer, which can also function as a fax/copier if need be.

Saturday night, yolen made her wonderful cheese soup as a late dinner. Seriously Atkins unfriendly: it had potatoes, pasta, and rice in it. It was yummy.

I am listening to my entire mp3 collection, in random order. This started the other week. I created a randomized playlist, and am letting it play through. I'll occasionally skip a song or two that I'm not in the mood for, and sometimes I leave it playing while I go get lunch, but more or less I'm listening to the whole thing. I am currently at 1350 songs down, 12841 to go.
