Missed a day.
Feb. 5th, 2010 11:21 amSorry 'bout that, these things happen.
Thanks to
1cmf stopping at Staples and picking up some 3/4" colored stickers for me, I was able to replace my missing tokens from one of my favorite games of all time, Cosmic Encounter. We celebrated by teaching the basic game to
thudthwacker, and then had a 4-way game with
andre_parrish, which
1cmf won.
We used to play a lot of Cosmic back in college, and my set is well-worn. I think I may make new hexes next, but the big difficulty is the cards, which at this point are about 30 years old. I know that there's a new edition of Cosmic Encounter out, but I see they've yet again made changes: no more hexes (just free floating planets), tech cards, re-enforcement cards, and now a special rewards deck? I'd have to play it to see if I like it. I have to admit I am attached to the classic Eon edition, and sometimes fantasize about making a sneaking reprinting run of the cards decks.
In other news, looks like snow this weekend.
