Tuesday, I came down with some sort of intestinal disorder/fever thing. Had trouble concentrating on work, felt lousy. So Wednesday, I stayed home, took a nap in the afternoon, and worked on getting well. This morning, my fever was gone, and I felt better, so I guess it worked.

I need to decide what to get myself for my birthday. As a single-but-employed person with no dependents, I usually allow myself one "big ticket" item a year. It doesn't have be bought on my birthday, but around then is when I start thinking about it. In previous years, it has been things like a snazzy camera, a recumbent bicycle, or a new computer. Last year, as I recall, it was my utilikilt, a GPS [which I actually only got around to purchasing this year], and a bunch of import DVDs.

I think if you fill out a poll twice, your second set of answers superceed the first, so I would recommend putting multiple suggestions as comments.

OK, I was thinking of -
a personal robot, I saw some in a magazine (Scientific American?) a few months ago with customizable parts, and they were supposed to be getting vaguely affordable. there was one that wandered around playing music. purely toy, but kinda cool.

an interior decorator - chicks like a nice apartment :)

season tickets to a venue you like. I won season tickets to the NJ shakespeare festival once, and it was fun seeing things I might not have chosen, and finding someone to use the other ticket each time.

a hat with a boingy backward facing sign with your name on it. as I've noted previously:)

A mechanical dolphin. I actually saw one of these in a catalog once. You could ride it over and under the water. Ridiculously expensive and not environmentally healthy, but looked fun.

I could probably think of more. I'm distressingly good at thinking up ways to spend money!
