Prepping.

Getting ready to leave for DragonCon.

Need to pack, need to drop off the rent check, need to print out travel stuffs, clean off disk space on laptop, need camera and cellphone chargers, need to wash & dress, need to trim beard, need to eat lunch, ...

Fortunately I have around 4 hours to accomplish this. So glad I took off from work today.

On the off chance...

If there happen to be any promo Button Men on offer (not very likely, I suppose), I would be most appreciative if you could snag me one. If such snaggage isn't difficult, that is (in one recent con, you had to do something like log a number of Button Men rounds before you could get the promo BMs).

The fact that I didn't make a similar request of [livejournal.com profile] the_malum before he went off to GenCon is evidence of my continuing mental deterioration.

As a matter of fact, I did look around GenCon for promo Button Men (since my first two slots were canceled, I spent the first six hours of Thursday in the Dealer Room). I didn't see anything like promo button men around. They did hawk some new BM for sale at the Cheapass booth, but that was about it.

I was thinking I hadn't seen much BM stuff around at all. Is it dying? Has the fad passed? Or is there an underground of secret ButtonCons that I'm not privy to?

It seems that the fad has passed somewhat. For one thing, Cheapass made approximately zero money on their Samurai set, and decided that they weren't going to be going all-out on Button Men any more, at least not on any kind of regular basis (well, that was the claim at the time).

Kinda sad, really.
