So, things that have happened since my last update, no particular order.

[livejournal.com profile] yolen and I saw a bunch of movie type stuff. We finished I, Claudius, saw Resident Evil: Apocalypse (bad, 3/10), Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (good, 7/10), and Cannibal, the Musical (silly 6/10).

Went to the Hoboken Arts & Music festival for a little while yesterday. Ran into a former boss and her husband, and said hi.

Cleaned! Made substantial progress on cleaning up the library room. I threw out two bags and two boxes of trash, including my (*sniff*) old tent. Those of you who've been camping with me may remember it, the huge blue dome tent. The bottom door zipper was completely broken, and the upper zipper was having occasional troubles. Over summer I bought a newer, smaller tent at someone's gate sale, so I figured it was time to give the old tent a heave-ho. Thinking back, the blue tent has to be around 14 years old; I got it when Carl and I were living together.

My brother emailed me some photos he took yesterday of the flood waters in Easton, Pa. Here's one of them.

Notice the car roof poking out of the water. ([livejournal.com profile] thudthwacker saw the photo, and said "Wow! Look how cheap gas is there!")

Holy crappity!! That car is *done* for.

I'm going to do a little dance in the library now that you threw out the boxes. Or shall I wait till we find a way to get rid of the busted TV?

You'd be suprised at how well cars dry out after a flood. Realisticly, the hardest part ot deal with is nothing mechanical or electrical at all: the interior upholstery is going to end up stinking to high hell.

Ask [livejournal.com profile] trollbridge about his U-boat Commander experience someday.

A stinky car is better than one that doesn't work.

I had a co-worker early last year whose car was worthless after the company's parking lot flooded, which of course was child's play compared to the flooding in the above picture. Maybe his car was a piece of crap in the first place.

Oh, yes.

I know right where that is. It's not a well-drained area in any wet weather, so with what we just endured (and I'm only 12 miles from there) I'm not surprised to see that. Yikes, though!

PS- Tell [livejournal.com profile] thudthwacker that gas is even cheaper on this side of the river. =)

Yup, I know the spot. Lots of flooding in this neck of the woods. I have friends on the Delaware (NJ side) who were flooded out. It'll be a while until they can get home. For us, it's just tough to navigate to thge local A&P right now.
